Morning glory juice
This vibrant juice features kiwi in the leading role, with mint in cameo. It’s a delicious way to hydrate and wake up your cells with energy boosting vitamins.
Ideally you’d use a ‘cold’ press juicer for this to preserve all the nutrients.
It keeps well for a couple of days in the fridge.
Ingredients (serves 2)
1 Kiwis
1 Large sweet apple (e.g. Cox, Breaburn)
1/2 ripe pear
1 lime
1-2 cm fresh ginger knob
Small handful of fresh mint leaves
Splash of plant milk for creaminess. Leave it out if you like your juice sharp.
Method
Ideally use organic ingredients so as to avoid ingesting pesticides which would undermine the detoxification effect of the juice. In fact, I advodate eating everything organic if possible, but it makes even more sense to do so when juicing because you don’t want to introduce more toxins as you try to remove them.
You don’t need to peel the ingredients if they’re organic, but otherwise, do peel them except for the lime as the key nutrients are in the skin. Just give it a good scrub under running water or soak in water + bicarbonate for 15 min.
Chop the ingredients in cubes; make it smaller for the lime as the hard rind tends to block the (my) juicer.
Pour into glasses and add a splash of plant milk, if using.
I find it nicer cold, so if you don’t want to dilute it with ice cubes, put the fruit in the fridge the day before.
